Old Chapel Farm
16th century barns, cream scones, and highland cows - this is what dreams are made of.
Idyllic Living in the rolling hills of Northeast Wales
Three weeks on a Welsh farm caring for gardens and livestock, designing and building structures with hand tools, milking cows, churning butter, weaving baskets, volunteering at the community arts center, baking to hearts content, and spending time with the beautiful local community. Fran and Kevin, farmers and cathedral archeologists hosted my friend Gracie and I for a few unforgettable weeks. From hand crafts to butchery, this was a true homestead with a wealth of information waiting to be learned. From the day we arrived and learned about the couples immense building knowledge, I was hooked, they were kind enough to indulge our interests and we switched our focus from helping in the garden to a natural building internship with a goal of designing and building a multi-stall, accessible compost loo. The weeks spent on this farm have been some of the most magical of with memories and learning to last a lifetime.
